Moments: To Heaps of Laundry

I love writing. I want to write books and I want to read them. I want to create compelling stories and remind all of us about the important things. But right now I have brief moments between heaps of laundry. I’ve been asking myself how I can keep working my writing muscles when I don’t have enough of a gap between nursing 8 week olds and entertaining almost two-year-olds while planning and making meals that feed a working husband, a graduating 16 year old son and a feisty 11 year old middle-school son. I can’t really get into working on any large projects right now. So instead I’m just going to try and sit down as much as I can in little moments and just capture them. So it’ll be a mini-series of sorts that will be labeled as “Moments:_______” and fill in the blank with what the central theme of that moment is.

Today’s is: Heaps of Laundry.

Motherhood is heaps of laundry. Laundry to wash, laundry to fold, laundry to sort, laundry of just bought pajamas that need a wash before wear. Laundry is in the living room, the bedrooms, the basement. I once listened to a mom blog (Coffee and Crumbs) and one of the mom’s was talking about how she was supposed to go for a walk with her friend and instead they spent the morning helping her fold laundry because she was so overwhelmed. I understand that now. It really never ends. Something is always there- waiting to be folded.

And now my toddler needs a diaper change cause she pooped.

Moments! Until next time!
